Societies of Peace

MatriForum aims to encourage further constructive dialogue between science and the public at large regarding alternative, egalitarian forms of society supported by the latest findings in the scientific fields of modern matriarchal research, economics, sociology, political science and cultural studies, among other areas.

The platform was founded in 2019 by Simone Plaza, Martina Engel-Fürstberger, Anna Pixner, and Andrea Fleckinger and is based on the matriarchal approach taken by modern matriarchal studies. This places life as a core value at the centre of society and provides a foundation to create concrete, viable alternatives for a balanced, egalitarian and peaceful society.

Martina Engel-Fürstberger

Founder

A mother of three children, Martina's a certified teacher trainer and therapist under the Non-Medical Practitioners Act, specialising in executive coaching for women and promoting a horizontal instead of a vertical hierarchy in the world of work. She applies her years of experience to a range of contexts to these fields and, in addition to her professional work, is also socially and privately committed to equal rights and social change for more equality through new structures.

Andrea Fleckinger

Founder

Dr. Andrea Fleckinger lives with her two children in South Tyrol, Italy. She is a postdoctoral researcher at the centre for interdisciplinary gender studies at the University of Trento (Italy). Andrea has a PhD in general and social pedagogy and worked, between 2007 and 2021, at a women’s shelter supporting women and children who survived gender-based violence. She gives lectures at both national and international universities and is a certificated lecturer on Modern Matriarchal Studies. Andrea Fleckinger’s research projects adopt a feminist approach, focusing on women and gender equality, gender-based violence, social work practices, mothering, and possibilities for social change. As a feminist and activist, she promotes social transformation inspired by contemporary matriarchal societies.

Anna Pixner

Founder

Anna was born in Austria and lives in Upper Austria. She has a degree in engineering and also studied production and management, with extensive experience as a project manager in production and logistics. She's a passionate pedagogue and trainer, specialising in the vocational training of young people. Her other great interests are equal rights and the empowerment of women and girls, supporting them on their way to finding both themselves and their roots.

Simone Plaza

Founder

Simone has a degree in Philology and is a specialist and simultaneous translator. She has a son and grew up in Barcelona, with German, Spanish and Catalan cultural influences, although she's been living in Berlin since 2017. As a professional mediator between languages and cultures, with a particular focus on industry, she realises the fundamental value of communication and exchanging new ideas in order to find alternative solutions to the crucial problems facing our society.
